Charlotte was born on January 23rd, 1806 in Sherburn in Elmet, Yorkshire, England.  Charlotte's father was John Turpin and her mother was Mary Wilson.  Her paternal grandfather was Richard. She had three sisters named Richard, Susanna and Sarah.  She was the third oldest of the four children.
