Christian was born on March 9th, 1794 in MAUCHLINE Ayrshire Scotland.  Christian's father was William Ness and her mother was Agnes Sillars. She had two brothers and three sisters, named William, Jane, Sara, Jean and Agnes.  She was the second oldest of the six children.
