Robert was born on May 31st, 1788 in GLASGOW Lanarkshire Scotland.  Robert's father was Robert Templeton and his mother was Margaret Wright. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Peter, James, John, Archibald, Alexander, Elisabeth, Margaret, Janet and Helen Stewart.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children.
