Thomas was born on March 14th, 1786 in GLASGOW Lanarkshire Scotland.  Thomas' father was Robert Templeton and his mother was Margaret Wright. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Robert, Peter, James, John, Archibald, Alexander, Elisabeth, Margaret, Janet and Helen Stewart.  He was the oldest of the eleven children.
