George B was born in 1886 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.  George B's father was James William Hodgson and his mother was Emma Hargreaves.  His maternal grandparents were ? Hargreaves and Ann. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Harry, Samuel, Jack, James William, Alfred, Alice and Amelia.  He was the seventh oldest of the eight children.
