Ada was born in 1877 in Scales, Aldingham, Lancashire.  Ada's father was James Jackson and her mother was Fanny.  Her paternal grandparents were George JACKSON and Agnes Holme. She had three brothers and three sisters, named George, James, William, Kate D, Fanny and May.  She was the youngest of the seven children.
