Helen was born in 1816 in Yetholm, Roxburghshire, Scotland.  Helen's father was Charles Blyth and her mother was Esther Faa.  Her paternal grandparents were David Blyth and Elizabeth Clarke; her maternal grandparents were Wull Faa and Mabel Allan. She had eleven brothers and three sisters, named David, William, John, Infant, Andrew, Infant, George, Tam, Infant, Charles, Infant, Esther Faa, Jeanie and Betty.  She was the youngest of the fifteen children.  She died at the age of 77 on November 11th, 1893 in Kelso, Roxburghshire.
