Fanny was born in 1880 in Keighley, Yorkshire, England.  Fanny's father was Thomas Slingsby and her mother was Hannah Crossley.  Her paternal grandmother was Sarah E Greenwood; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Crossley and Susannah Sargeson. She had three brothers named Frank, Charles and Walter.  She was the youngest of the four children.  She died at the age of 2 in June 1882 in Keighley, West Riding of Yorkshire.
