Robert was born on October 27th, 1830 in SANQUHAR Dumfries & Galloway Scotland.  Robert's father was Thomas Templeton and his mother was Margaret Adamson.  His paternal grandparents were Robert Templeton and Margaret Wright. He had five brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Walter, John, William, Archibald and Anna.  He was the youngest of the seven children.
