Agnes was born in 1713 in Ingleton, Yorkshire, England.  Agnes' father was Richard Guy and her mother was Emma Shepherd.  Her paternal grandparents were Robert Guy and Mary Battersby; her maternal grandparents were Henry Shepherd and Mary Taylor. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Henry, Richard, Thomas, Mary, Margaret and Elizabeth.  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
