- was born Q3 1856 in Bardsea, Lancs. GR has 1859 but 4 in 1861. Dorothy married Thomas WOODWARD on 15 November 1879.

Dorothy's father was James Armistead and her mother was Sarah Jackson. Her paternal grandparents were Robert Armistead and Anne Pickthall. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Robert, George, James, Agnes, Sarah, Eleanor, Mary, Isabella and Margaret. She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.
