John Ness

John was born on June 30th, 1822 in Stair, Ayrshire. John's father was John Ness and his mother was Agnes Bell Thomson. His paternal grandparents were William Ness and Agnes Sillars; his maternal grandparents were David Thomson and Margaret McHoul. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Margaret, William, George, James, David, Agnes, Ann Paterson, Sarah, Jane and Mary. He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.
